Leading Urban
Gospel Industry Trade Publication U-ZONE Magazine
Announces Restructuring
Seeking New Writers, Columnists, and Sales Force
(Oakland, CA) U-ZONE Magazine publisher Curtis
Jermany recently announced a planned restructuring
of the popular urban gospel industry trade
publication. In 3 years, U-ZONE Magazine has emerged
as the only trade mag offering readers inside access
to emerging industry trends, legal tips, and
in-depth industry knowledge from highly sought after
gospel
music execs such as Max Siegel, Lee Jerkins,
Phyllis Caddell, Tia Smith and many more.
In addition to increasing the editorial and
advertising staffs with new writers, columnists, and
sales people, the restructuring will also focus on
recruiting regional correspondents to report on
local trends and events. "For the past 3 years
U-ZONE has successfully informed and inspired
readers to improve their own music ministry by
giving them an inside look at artists and industry
execs who are making it work," said Jermany. "We
feel that by adding a focus on regional trends to
this mix it will facilitate the spread of hot local
acts and events to a total platform."
U-ZONE magazine is now seeking talented and
dedicated staff for the following positions:
-Writers for features, interviews, and music
reviews
-Columnists in tune with the technical
aspects of the music industry, such as producer
tools and gadgets
-Regional correspondents to report on local
trends and events
-Commissioned based sales staff for ad sales
and marketing packages
-S.F. & Houston Area Based interns for all
areas of
magazine production and distribution
-Street Team Reps in Houston TX &
San Francisco Bay Areas
The first issue after the restructuring will be
released in January 2009 in time for both
the
Stellar Awards and the Holy Hip Hop Awards.
This high profile issue is slated for a double cover
and will be the official magazine of the Holy Hip
Hop Awards.

Re: Prohibition of Using Unauthorized Copyrighted
Beats
Date: August 21, 2008
If you are a Minister at the 2009 Holy Hip Hop Artist Showcase and Music
Awards, you have agreed to be filmed during your live ministry. In 2004, there
were two instances out of approximately performances, where a Holy Hip Hop
Minister of the Gospel utilized a copyrighted beat from another label in another
genre of music.
Unfortunately, in those instances, the performances were deleted from all
edited footage because they could not be used in any duplication or
re-broadcast, since the original copyright owners to those tracks have not
provided any advanced written authorization to HP4 Digital Works.
As such, for any performances, and at any future filmed HP4 Digital Works
events, you will not be allowed to use copyrighted instrumentals in your
performance. If that was your intention, then you will need to select an
alternative set of tracks to minister over during your five (5) minute set.
With 16 hours of footage to edit, it is not possible or feasible to have to
spend time or resources on footage that is not cleared. So again, (1)
If you were intending to use copyrighted, not authorized
secular beats to minister over, those tracks will not be played by the Sound
Engineers; so (2) You
will need to select a replacement instrumental track that you own or have
received written copyright authorization which must be presented at the
Artist-Check in Table to: Mr. David Myers II, Production Coordinator.
Thank you for your time and agreement in this matter.
Sincerely Yours,
HP4 Digital Works

How to Hold a Microphone
For the microphone to pick up a clear, undistorted sound, it must be held
about one to three centimeters from your mouth. Hold the mic at a constant
distance, so the volume of your voice doesn't keep changing. Try to keep the
mike steady, and don't let it wave about.
Do not press the microphone up to your lips or chin, as this will obstruct
your mouth and may cause distortion. If you are sounding muffled over the
microphone, it may be that you are holding it too close to your mouth.
The hand that you hold the microphone with should be as far from your mouth
as possible, so that the dancers can see your face (and not just part of it).
Although you see Rock Singers holding the head of the microphone, it is not good
for the clear sound needed for square dance calling.
The mic itself should be held at a 45-degree angle, and slightly to one side
- once again, so as not to cover your face.
Correct Microphone Technique:
Do’s and Don’ts of Microphone Technique
DO hold the microphone steady
DO hold it at a short distance away from your mouth (about one inch)
DON'T wave the microphone around
DON'T press it into your chin
DON'T place the mike on your lips (don't swallow it!)
DON'T choke the microphone (don’t hold it at the tip)
DON'T say anything over the microphone that you might regret later
